SEMA 2011: Rhys Millen Racing Genesis Coupe Preview

A Supercharged Hyundai Genesis Hurricane SC is To Be Revealed at SEMA

The 2012 Veloster may be Hyundai's new hotness, but the Genesis Coupe is still its flagship performance car. And with this year's SEMA show next week, Hyundai is quickly readying a full fleet of tuner cars to debut in Las Vegas. Here, we see the Genesis Hurricane SC – a collaboration between the Hyundai America Technical Center (HATCI) and companies like Magnuson Products, Rhys Millen Racing, Harman International and Torvec Inc.

As its name suggests, the swan song of this tuned Genesis Coupe is its engine – a supercharged version of Hyundai's 3.8-liter V6. Adding this supercharger means the Hurricane is good for more than 450 horsepower, and Torvec Inc. has fitted its IsoTorque differential to allow for improved handling and traction. When tested on the road course at Hyundai's proving grounds, this new differential allowed the Hurricane to be one second quicker lap over lap than a standard Genesis Coupe.

Rhys Millen Racing provided the new front bumper, grille, side skirts, hood, diffuser and rear deck, and the company's partners – Enkei and Hankook – are responsible for the 19-inch wheel and tire package. Inside, there's a high-level Lexicon audio system and custom Katzkin leather upholstery with blue suede inserts on the seats. After all, it wouldn't be SEMA without heaps of suede.

When It Comes to Automotive Brand Loyalty, Consumers Trust Hyundai!

The study was done by Experian Automotive, a data service that tracks vehicle registration data and consumer attitudes, and it found that consumers really trust Hyundai. But making big progress is Ford – the automaker took six of the top spots in the top 10 product categories.

Nabbing the top position, Hyundai scored well with a loyalty rate of 49.6 percent. This is the first time the Korean automaker topped the list, beating out GM, Ford and Toyota. In this study, loyalty is determined by the repurchase rate of its owners. And Hyundai had a good year, sales wise -  its brand market share jumped to 9.2 percent during the second quarter of this year (up from 7.9 percent last year).

Hyundai's New Hatchback Puts the “Fun” Back Into Functional

The Veloster looks like a hatchback coupe, but this strange little car has three doors: one on the driver’s side, and two on the passenger’s side. While not a traditionally beautiful car—it’s definitely a bold new design. We guarantee you will never lose a Veloster in a parking lot.
